Looks like the recording company wasn't the greatest that put this CD together. The volume from song to song varies significantly, and not only is that annoying, but it's a sign of poor quality record company.
I feel your love.Oh yes. Which is more than I can say for many in the popular musical scene today.Anyway, if you enjoy Elton's tunes, this will more than satisfy. It's o.k. I can see you all now with your Carmen Miranda sunny smiles and your Jack Nicholson antics. Good grief.
Bask in my aura and know that the all encompassing vitamin pill, known as me, is the Ponce de Leon you've been looking for. 3 Decades. You doubt me. They could always meld music and lyrics into such an appetizing array. You have missed your surly Seer, and for good cause.
What can I say people. I know I know people. I can't be that old to remember it all. I tend to think his 70's contributions to be his best, however there still remains viable output over the next 3 decades. Relax. Am I really that demanding and self-absorbed.
But treat me right, or else I will pack my bags and go home. Stretch out. Who else can make your run the gamut of human emotions all within one review. Or, another favorite of mine, "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" from "Honky Chateau". However, for purists like myself, there is much I miss. Then I forget I am pure spirit and do not age.All in all, a pretty nice collection. Enjoy. Some say the song and title of this review is my theme song.
With Elton, the output has been massive and so, there are many songs that are not included. Admit it. How nice it would be to have included "Take Me to the Pilot". They only include "Your Song" from his first album. So start now.Anyhoo, if you like Elton's songs, and who doesn't considering how many of these songs have crept into your cognitive brain cells and have mind-controlled you for many years, this really is a pretty complete collection of all the high points of his career. In all honesty, this collection could have been 4 c.d.s. And so, it's no wonder they have lasted so long and will be heard for decades to come. You don't have to say it.
Elton and Bernie had the magical touch. Just try.I am here to have fun and review Elton John's Greatest Hits 1970-2002. Tell your Metamorpho the truth, but understand, I want you to tell me what I want to hear. But, as I have said in the past, your beloved Metamorpho was not in charge so don't blame me.In closing. These are the words of Metamorpho - all heed my wisdom.Metamorpho sells cartoon balloons in town-- ;)
This is a GREAT CD set of Elton's greatest hits. If you are a fan, you must have it.
Every song contains a piece of him - heart and soul. What can I say, Elton is The King as far as I am concerned. I have followed his career since the beginning and he only gets better. Elvis - no, Michael - no, Elton absolutely yes. There's no one like him and this gathering of songs proves it.
This two-disc set is as about as definitive as one can get, keeping in mind that a CD can only hold about 80 minutes of music (for those of you who complain of omissions). Really, any such collection is ultimately judged by whether it has all of one's favorites; to me, Disc One serves that purpose, although it lacks a couple of my own favorites for which there is simply no room. Some have complained about "loudness" and "compression" and those are certainly an issue here, but the selection is so good I was obliged to just deal with it. Without this set, I would have to own several discs in order to have all the songs I wanted, and I don't like Elton John enough for that. This set should satisfy the casual listener who wants as many of the hits as possible in excellent, although compressed, sound.Discs come in a digipak and not a jewel case, which is a drawback because when the cardboard packaging wears out (and it will) one can't replace it the way one can a jewel case. Also, it looks terrible when shelved with other CDs in jewel cases.
